Due to scheduling problems, Emma Stone has had to drop out of director Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming project, Crimson Peak. But, he has already been able to find a potential replacement, as Mia Wasikowska (Alice in Wonderland, Stoker) may be picking up the part.
If she is able to fit it into her own schedule, Wasikowska will be filling in for Stone on the haunted house picture. Set to star Benedict Cumberbatch, Jessica Chastain, and Charlie Hunnam, who will next be seen in del Toro’s Pacific Rim, details on the film are sparse.
Typically, scheduling conflicts can mean any number of things. But, given Stone’s commitments to The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu’s Birdman and the upcoming films by Woody Allen and Cameron Crowe, this is very likely the case. Crimson Peak is set to start filming in early 2014.
Wasikowska was recently seen in Park Chan-wook’s Stoker, and will next be seen in Jim Jarmusch’s Only Lovers Left Alive, Richard Ayoade’s The Double, and John Curran’s Tracks.
