Fans of the 1994 comedy Dumb and Dumber may or may not be disappointed to hear that Warner Bros. has decided not to go forward with a sequel.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the studio, still feeling the sting from the disappointment of The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, starring Jim Carrey, didn’t want to move forward with the film. Dumb and Dumber To is expecting to have a similar budget to Burt Wonderstone.
While the film will not be having a home at Warner Bros. the Farrelly brothers are reportedly still taking their business elsewhere. They are currently shopping the film around town now, and, according to Deadline, the studio Red Granite is in “first position” to finance a sequel and take on foreign distribution rights. They also report that five studios are “eying” the domestic rights, including Universal Studios.
The plot of Dumb and Dumber To supposedly will feature the duo hitting the road again in order to connect Harry (Jeff Daniels) to his illegitimate daughter for a kidney transplant. Despite some concerns from the Carrey camp in the past, he and Daniels are said to be willing to return to the characters.
