A couple weeks ago, it was revealed that Paranormal Activity 5 would be missing its annual October release time, and instead would be coming out in January 2014. In its place, Paramount Studios decided to release another movie, Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa, which, by that time, nobody even knew was a thing.
Now, the first trailer has been released for the film, and it gives a better idea of what we can expect from the film. It appears that the movie is going to be similar to the segments featuring Irving Zisman (Johnny Knoxville) in the Jackass movies, but, in terms of plot, will be going about with more of a Borat/Burno approach. By that, I mean, there will be a very loose plot, here being that Irving is taking his grandson on a road trip, and the guys will be doing a bunch of practical stunts to a group of people that will be completely unaware, or “unaware”, of their pranks.
Going into this trailer, I was more or less expecting the worse, as I typically do with trailers for comedies these days (and given the year of comedy that we have had so far, it’s hard to blame me). So I was legitimately surprised by how many smiles this trailer brought to my face. I’m not sure if this new formula is going to work for the Jackass crew, but I’m very curious to see how it works out on October 25.
