Paramount Pictures and Warner Bros. announced the official start of production on Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar today in Alberta, Canada.
Starring Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, John Lithgow, Casey Affleck and Michael Caine, to name a few, the production of the film will be traveling the globe and will utilize a mixture of 35mm anamorphic and IMAX film photography.
With a script written by Jonathan Nolan and re-written by Christopher Nolan, who came up with the story, based on the theories of theoretical physicists Kip Thorne, the story is said to be “complex and multi-layered.”
An official synopsis was released as well. Check it out below:
Interstellar chronicles the adventures of a group of explorers who make use of a newly discovered wormhole to surpass the limitations on human space travel and conquer the vast distances involved in an interstellar voyage.
Nolan’s regular cinematographer Wally Pfister will not be working on this film, as he is currently working on his directorial debut Transcendence. Replacing him is Hoyte van Hoytema (Tinker Tailor Solider Spy). Hans Zimmer, however, will be back to score the film. Apparently, he has already written some music for it (my first article on this blog!).
Interstellar will be released on November 7, 2014.
