Seth MacFarlane was able to make his transition from showrunner to filmmaker in a big way last year when his directorial debut, Ted, became a box office hit.
Right now, he’s out making his sophomore effort, A Million Ways to Die in the West, which he is currently shooting now. But fans have been wondering about when he is making a sequel to his debut, and he may have just giving them an answer.
On Twitter today, after a fan asked about when Ted 2 was coming out, Seth MacFarlane tweeted the following, “We’re aiming for a 2015 Passover release date.” While this doesn’t confirm anything, it is feasible that, if all the cards play out right, he could make the movie by then.
While I didn’t love Ted as much as some, it still hits more than it misses, and it has a heart that not only feels genuine but is often not found in these type of comedies. I’m curious to see where MacFarlane goes as a filmmaker, but I seriously hopes that he leaves Family Guy behind. It’s time to let that horse down.
A Million Ways to Die in the West is set to be released on May 30, 2014. He is also still the credited developer and creator of Family Guy and American Dad, and is also an executive producer of the new sitcom Dads.
Update: ScreenCrush has gotten in contact with Universal and has confirmed an April 2015 release date for Ted 2.
