Natalie Dormer, best known as Margaery Tyrell on Game of Thrones, will be joining another fantasy series, as she is set to play Cressida in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay-Parts 1 & 2.
The announcement comes from the official Twitter page for The Hunger Games, who said the following earlier today, “It’s official! Please welcome Natalie Dormer as Cressida to the cast of The Hunger Games: Mockjay Parts 1&2.”
Having not read the books, I don’t really know who this character is. But, from what I heard, she’ll play a major part in the final two movies, so this should be a high profile role for the up-and-coming actress.
Dormer can be seen on both Games of Thrones and on Elementary, where she has a recurring guest role. She’ll also be seen on the big screen later this year in both Rush and The Counselor.
The next Hunger Games movie, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, will be released into theaters on November 22. Part 1 of Mockingjay will be released on November 21, 2014, and Part 2 will roll into theaters on November 20, 2015.
