Even though the latest Hunger Games movie, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, isn’t in theaters yet, preparations are already been made for its follow-up(s) The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 and 2. Returning director Francis Lawrence is bringing together his cast now, and it appears that he has found his Alma Coin in Julianne Moore.
In a press release, Lionsgate confirmed that the Academy Award-nominated actress will be joining the films. While I’m not familiar with her character yet, as I have not read any of the books, as President Alma Coin, the leader of the rebellion against the Capitol, it is safe to say that she will be playing a significant character.
Moore will next be seen in this month’s Don Jon, and will then be seen next month in the Carrie remake. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is set to be released on November 22, 2013. Meanwhile, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 is set to be released on November 21, 2014, and Part 2 will be released on November 20, 2015.
