Having already established himself on one hit series, Sherlock, across the pond, it appears that Martin Freeman is looking to star in what will likely be another in the States, as he is now set to star in the upcoming FX series Fargo.
The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Freeman will be playing Lester Nygaard, which will be the William H. Macy-type character in the series. The show already has Billy Bob Thornton signed on to play the villain.
The show, which will, as of now, be a 10-episode mini-series based on a different murder with different characters in the same universe as the 1996 film, has Joel and Ethan Coen signed on as executive producers. Production on the show is set to start next month in Canada. They are aiming for a spring 2014 release.
Freeman was recently seen in this summer’s The World’s End, and will next be seen in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.
