Well, it looks like the director of a film that I need to see is going to be directing a book that I’ve been dying to read. Destin Daniel Cretton, the writer and director of this year’s widely acclaimed Short Term 12, has signed on to rewrite and direct an adaptation of Jeannette Walls’ memoir The Glass Castle.
Variety broke the news. Jennifer Lawrence has been attached to play Walls since last year, but little development has been made on the project, until now. The film currently has a script by Andrew Lanham.
Lawrence already has quite a few projects ahead of her, including the final installments of The Hunger Games series, Mockingjay Parts 1 & 2, which are being filmed now. It’s unclear now when this will come into fruition, but now that a director is onboard, it is looking more likely than before to be coming soon to a theater near you.
Lawrence will next be seen in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and American Hustle later this year. Short Term 12 is currently in theaters now.
