Bret McKenzie Developing an Animated Series for Fox

By Will Ashton

Bret McKenzie seems to be keeping himself busy these days. In addition to working on the music for the upcoming sequel Muppets Most Wanted, the Academy Award-winner is writing a Labyrinth-esque musical comedy with James Bobin and has just announced that he has another project he’s working on: an animated series for Fox.

The A.V. Club is reporting that the Flight of the Conchords musician is working on a series about a group of N.A.S.A. employees who work in an “almost-obsolete” space center in Boulder, Colorado. Co-executive producers will be Tony Gama-Lobo and Rebecca May, who previously worked on King of the Hill.

While details are pretty sparse at the moment, this definitely sounds like it could be a fun idea. I trust in McKenzie, and I believe that he could produce another funny, witty show if given enough freedom and resources.
