While Bilbo Baggins and his friends are set to return to the big screen on December 13, it appears that the man behind their creator might be making his way to the silver screen as well.
The LA Times has revealed that David Gleeson has been tasked by write a script about J.R.R. Tolkien for Fox Searchlight. For now, the film is simply called Tolkien. Producing will be Peter Chernin.
According to the Times, Gleeson is “a Tolkien superfan and scholar of sorts,” so it seems like he’s a good pick for the film. His script will mostly be focused on the author’s experiences in World War I and Pembroke College, examining how his real life experiences helped shape his works and him as a writer.
