David Letterman to Retire in 2015

By Will Ashton

With Jay Leno officially out of the running, it seems David Letterman is the oldest late host in the business. But that won’t be the case for long.

During the taping of his April 3, 2014 show, Letterman announced he will be retiring in 2015. His contract had been extended until 2015 back in October, but this is the first official confirmation that he is leaving the show.

The news was spread by Late Show guest Mike Mills on Twitter, as he tweeted, “Dave just announced his retirement #2015 #muchlovedave.”

Having hosted the show on CBS for the past 22 years, following 11 years on NBC, Letterman has certainly left his legacy and, to me, he will most certainly be missed.

No word yet on who will be replacing Letterman once he leaves.
