Actress Marilyn Burns, best known as Sally Hardesty, the lead in the original 1974 The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, has passed away in her home in Houston yesterday. She was 65.
According to Deadline, her body was found by a family member when visiting her home. Her death was confirmed to ABC News by her manager, Chris Roe. At the moment, no cause of death has been reported.
In addition to being her namesake, Burns made her debut in the original horror classic. Other than that, her film resume is rather small, with only 11 credits on her IMDB resume. Those credits include the CBS miniseries Helter Skelter, another Tobe Hooper film Eaten Alive, and made cameos in Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation and Texas Chainsaw 3D.
Burns was last seen in the independent horror movie Sacrament earlier this year, and also has a lead role in In a Madman’s World, which will serve as her last film appearance.
